Oil on Canvas

The canvas was previously restored. The tacking margins had been removed and the canvas was glued to a thick sheet of cardboard.  There was a considerable amount of dust and grime covering the canvas.  The varnish had discolored.

The previous restorations were reversed.  The canvas was lined and stretched onto new stretcher bars.  The surface grime and discolored varnish were removed.  The losses were filled and inpainted.  The losses in the frame were cast and gilt to match the surrounding areas.
